The structure of Vuur

Three layers.
One fire.

  1. Top

    Pink pepper, bergamot, buchu

    The first ten minutes: bright, sharp and green, like a struck match.

  2. Heart

    Smoked rooibos, fynbos resin

    Hours two to five. Warm, resinous, a little sweet.

  3. Base

    Ash, labdanum, Cape cedar

    What stays on your scarf the next morning.

Glowing embers and sparks

Distilled in copper, in batches of two hundred, in the Cederberg.

Every VELD extrait begins with plants we gather ourselves under permit: buchu after the first winter rain, wild rosemary in spring, fynbos resin from fallen branches. We distil them in a 120-litre copper still and age each blend for nine months before it is bottled by hand.
